Leticia Marunga

Leticia is a post-graduate student at the University of Kent studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Analysis and Intervention in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. She has a strong background in healthcare and started off her career as a carer, before going to university to qualify as a social worker. The care experience provided a good background and understanding of the issues she was to encounter in her profession. To enhance her knowledge, she studied for a Master’s in Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding. This developed her analytical skills to be able to differentiate poor care quality and safeguarding. She is currently a practicing practitioner with working experience of safeguarding and working for the learning disability service user group.  To enable her to work effectively with people with learning disabilities; she enrolled for a Post Graduate Diploma in Analysis and Intervention in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. This qualification enabled her to improve the outcomes and quality of life for the people she works with. She is passionate about raising awareness of issues relating to poverty and social justice, particularly where it relates to children and youth. She has not only a keen interest in developing human potential to enable equitable opportunities to the under-privileged; but understands and evaluates social impact and the role of education in lifting communities from poverty. Her role is to develop strategy and provide strategic leadership and direction, defining goals and monitoring performance and working closely and collaboratively with the Chairperson to refine and improve operations.
